About the Author and Illustrator

ANGELA HOLLETT is a certified holistic nutritionist, private chef, and founder of Bloom Natural Nutrition in Vancouver, where she supports pregnant and postpartum women with nutrient-rich meals and education. A former graphic designer, she brings creativity and care to all she does, including her debut picture book, The Way I Win. Inspired by her son’s first jiu-jitsu tournament, the story explores the emotional journey of stepping onto the mat. Angela is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu blue belt and mother to two young athletes. She’s passionate about the confidence, focus, and community the sport fosters. When she’s not working or training, she finds joy in cooking and adventuring with her family.

AYALA KAGANOVITCH is a debut picture book illustrator with a background in 2D animation and a love for emotionally rich, colourful storytelling. A graduate of the Vancouver Institute of Media Arts, her work is known for expressive character poses, playful background details, and a vibrant style that brings every page to life. Ayala is passionate about creating joyful stories with an inclusive vision that reflects the diversity of young readers’ lives. When not sketching, she’s likely sipping bubble tea with friends or hiking Vancouver’s forest trails.
