    Why We're Doing This

When we published Guinea Pigs Don't Wear Pants, we knew not everyone would celebrate a story built on the simple belief that every child is beautiful and worthy of love.

    Unfortunately, we were right.

Then something remarkable happened. Readers, librarians, educators, parents, and advocates rallied behind the book. And instead of letting hate have the final word, we turned it into an opportunity to put more books into the hands of children. We partnered with We Need Diverse Books, and for every hateful message our author received, we donated a copy to an underserved school in a conservative state in the U.S.

Our response is simple: If people are going to tell us these stories shouldn't exist, we'll simply make sure more children have access to them.

The Guinea Piggy Bank is an extension of that promise. When you donate a book through this webpage, Rebel Goose Books donates one too. Together, we're helping more children discover a story that reminds them they are seen, they belong, and they are worthy of love.

Because who you are is beautiful and worthy of love.

Guinea Pigs Don’t Wear Pants is a whimsically joyful and empowering children’s book that celebrates individuality across the rainbow-hued spectrum. With playful rhymes and exuberant illustrations, author-illustrator Chris Paul (Rainbows) Farias celebrates the freedom to express yourself and the beauty of being exactly who you are.

Readers are invited to imagine a world where animals are hilariously limited in what they can do while humans are gloriously free to saunter, flaunt, and wear just what you want. From lipsticked llamas to tumbling giraffes, each page bursts with colorful chaos and loving affirmation.

At its heart, this is the book Chris wished they’d had as a kid growing up in a small town—one that gently opens the door to conversations about self-expression, gender, and being true to yourself.

    About the Author and Illustrator

CHRIS PAUL (RAINBOWS) FARIAS is an award-winning creative strategist, storyteller, and online creator with hundreds of thousands of followers. They first went viral after asking a local bakery for “the gayest cake ever” to celebrate their marriage to husband Jared. Chris is the founder of Unicorn Rebellion, a creative branding agency, and speaks with students, educators, and organizations about creativity, identity, and happiness. Based in Ontario, Chris lives with Jared and a joyful menagerie of animals — chickens, parrots, bunnies, dogs, guinea pigs (obviously), and a tortoise named Rock Hudson. Chris was recently awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for philanthropy and advocacy for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Guinea Pigs Don’t Wear Pants is their debut picture book.
